Special Issue Introduction

The International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC 2025) aims to provide a collaborative platform for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to exchange ideas and discuss advancements in automation, control, smart manufacturing, robotics, artificial intelligence, and computing. The 30th edition of ICAC 2025 will be held at the University of Loughborough, UK, from 27–29 August 2025.

 

As a continuation of the conference, selected high-quality papers from ICAC 2025 will be invited to submit extended versions for this Special Issue. The goal of this Special Issue is to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements and their practical applications in robotics and AI, particularly in relation to complex engineering systems. This collection will feature full papers, review articles, and short communications from participants who delivered oral talks or poster presentations at ICAC 2025, with particular emphasis on Young Scientists, PhD students, and Postdoctoral researchers. The scope of this Special Issue includes, but is not limited to:

● AI and Machine Learning in Complex Systems;

● Cyber-Physical Systems and Smart Manufacturing;

● Robotics and Human-Machine Collaboration;

● Information and Network Security in Engineering Systems;

● Optimization and Decision-Making in Complex Systems;

● Smart Grids and Intelligent Transportation Systems.

 

Authors of selected ICAC 2025 papers are invited to submit extended versions of their work, with at least 50% new content, for consideration in this Special Issue. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure high scientific quality and relevance. Manuscripts must adhere to the journal's submission guidelines and formatting requirements.
